Buying

A viewing that tells you more

A practical way to look beyond the photographs and remember what matters after the viewing.

3 min read

Start with everyday life

Before a viewing, write down three routines the home needs to support. Perhaps it is a quiet place to work, dinner with friends, or an easy transition to outdoor space. Keep your essentials separate from preferences so an attractive finish does not decide the whole search.

Look at connections, not just rooms

Walk the route from the entry to the kitchen, between bedrooms and bathrooms, and from living space to the garden. Notice light, storage, circulation and changes in level. Ask what is included in the sale and record questions that need an answer from the seller or a qualified specialist.

Keep a useful record

After each visit, note one strength, one trade-off and one unanswered question. Compare homes against the same brief. A second visit at a different time can reveal how a space feels in ordinary use; a viewing is a starting point, not a substitute for professional inspections.
